Beverly Ann Hill Hunt, 77, was
born in St. Anthony, Idaho, a daughter of John Dean Hill and Leanna
Fisher. She married Leonard Hunt, December 6, 1946. Employed at the IRS
and DDO, she retired from Hill Air Force Base. She had a natural talent
for carpentry and many were recipients of her gifts.
Surviving family members include her husband, Leonard; children: Hal
(Judy), Connie and Karen Steed; siblings: Carma (Glen) Taylor, Deanna
(Doc) Weaver; Donnie (Sharon) Hill; seven grandchildren and five great
grandchildren. Predeceased by her parents and a brother.

Leonard Morgan Hunt passed away
Monday, August 7, 2006 at his home.
He was born March 2, 1926 in Egin, Idaho, one of eight children, to
William Earl and Verna Davis Hunt.
Leonard served in the U.S. Marines, from 1944 to 1950, during World War
II.
On December 6, 1947, Leonard married Beverly Ann Hill in St. Anthony,
Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
They moved to Utah in 1952 where he worked at Hill Air Force Base as a
re-fueler.
After he retired in 1981, he pursued his life long dream of training
horses. He was a member of the Roy Rocking R Riding Club for over 30
years.
Leonard is survived by his children, Hal (Judy) Hunt, Connie Hunt, and
Karen Steed; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother,
and three sisters.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly, his parents, two brothers
and one sister.
The family extends a special thanks to Hillary at Gentiva Home Care,
also Mandy and DeAna of Applegate Hospice Care Center.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 11th at 11:00 a.m. at the
West Point 3rd Ward Chapel, 800 North 4000 West.
Friends and family may call on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist's
Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South and Friday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.,
at the church.
Interment, West Point City Cemetery, where Military Honors will be
accorded.

Father: Lucius Clark Mother: Miriam Adelia
Afton Clark Hill 1917 ~ 2005 Our loving mother, grandmother,
sister, and friend Afton Hill passed away peacefully on September 6,
2005 following a stroke. Afton was born July 9, 1917 in Preston, Idaho.
She was the third of seven children born to Lucius and Miriam Adelia
Clark. She married Ralph J. Hill on December 21, 1940 in the Salt Lake
Temple. For 52 happy years, they worked and served side by side in a
loving partnership. Afton was a talented musician, and she used this
gift to bless many people throughout her life. She was also a wonderful
cook and hostess, always welcoming visitors into her home. She dedicated
much of her time to serving in the Church. Ralph and Afton both served
in the Southern States mission before their marriage, then together
presided over the Texas mission from 1960-64 and served in Washington,
D.C. from 1981-82. Their lives were filled with service to God, their
family, their friends, and the community. Wherever Afton lived, from
Sacramento to Seattle, Idaho Falls, Bountiful, Texas, and finally Salt
Lake, she made friends who were a blessing and support to her. She spent
the final chapter of her life at the Wentworth on Highland Drive, where
she interacted with friends and staff who made her remaining years
comfortable and happy. She was preceded in death by her husband, her
daughter Annette Hill, her parents, and her siblings Elmer, Verla,
Ervin, and Lucille. She is survived by her daughters Donna Sumens and
Judy Toronto (Chris), her son Allen Hill (Fern), her sister Wilma Hill
and brother Melvin Clark (Juanita), 18 grandchildren, and 40
great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Saturday,
September 10, 2005 at 11 a.m. in the Willow Creek 1st Ward chapel (2115
E. Sublette Place at 8455 South). Friends may call at Larkin Sunset
Gardens Mortuary in Sandy (1950 East 10600 South) Friday evening from 6
- 8 and at the ward chapel Saturday morning from 9:30-10:30. Interment
will be in the Richmond Cemetery in Richmond, Utah.

ASHCRAFT, CHARLES RENNELL Charles Rennell "Charlie" Ashcraft,
74, Payette, Idaho, died Aug. 18, 1988, at home. Graveside services were
at 10 a.m. Aug. 23 at Riverside Cemetery, Payette. His son Rennell
Ashcraft, Boise, officiated. Services were under the direction of
Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette.
Mr. Ashcraft was born Oct. 25, 1913, at Grand Junction, Colo., a son of
Charles and Edith Ashcraft. His family moved to St. Anthony, Idaho. He
was raised and educated there, graduating from St. Anthony High School
in the class of 1931. As a young man he worked for the Forest Service
and a Chevrolet garage. He served in the U.S. Army in Great Britain
during World War II. After the war, he returned to Idaho. He attended
the Elgin Watchmaker's College in Elgin, Ill., graduating in 1947. He
owned and operated a watch repair shop in Grace, Idaho for three years.
He moved to Payette in 1951, and then farmed and repaired watches in
Fruitland until his retirement in 1961.
Charlie enjoyed reading and vegetable and flower gardening. He was a
member of the Disabled American Veterans of Payette.
He is survived by three daughters, Lee McBride, Vale, Ore., Sharon Nott,
Grants Pass, Ore., Martha Cannon, Vale; four sons, Charles Ashcraft,
Payette, Rennie Ashcraft, Boise, Dick Ashcraft, Benton, Wash., and Bob
Ashcraft, Honolulu, Hawaii; two sisters, Erma Ashcraft, Meridian, Idaho
and Verla Richards, Park City, Utah; 15 grandchildren, 1
great-grandchild expected in September, and numerous nieces and nephews.
His parents, a sister, Edith Ellen Gee, and a daughter, Charlene Grace,
died earlier.

Helen Thurston Kent,
86, of Ashton, died Sunday, September 2, 2007, at the Ashton Living
Center, of natural causes.
She was born July 9, 1921, in Ogden, Utah to Louis Christian and
Wilhelmina Meenderink Thurston. She attended schools in Ogden and
graduated from Ogden High School. She then attended and graduated from
the LDS School of Nursing.
She joined the U.S. Army on June 1, 1943. She served as a nurse overseas
during World War II. She received the American Theater Ribbon, Victory
Medal, EAME Theater Ribbon, and overseas service bars. She was honorably
discharged from the Army on May 14, 1946, as a Captain.
She married Gerald "Curley" Kent on May 27, 1946 in Ashton.
She worked as a R.N./surgical nurse for many years at Ashton Memorial
Hospital. She was later appointed as the Administrator of the hospital.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the
American Legion, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Daniel G. Kent, Eileen K. Bergman, Dean
L. (Linda) Kent all of Ashton; a sister-in-law, Norma Hedrick of
Orofino; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was
preceded in death by her parents, husband "Curley" Kent, a son
Larry Kent, and sisters, Faye Tuttle, Myrtle Nelson and Bernice Smith.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 7, at
Baxter Funeral Home, 717 Main Street, in Ashton. The family will receive
friends Friday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home prior to
services. Burial will be in the Pineview Cemetery.

She was born to Louis Ash Raddon and Nelda Ilene Gilbert, March 29, 1938
in Murray, Utah. She attended Sherman Elementary, Olympus Junior and Senior
High Schools, graduating in 1956. She was talented in music, singing,
sewing, but most of all being a mother and grandmother. She loved Christmas,
Disney, movies, good music, friendships and her four grandchildren. She was
a true "Granny" who could be touched by them for anything,
anytime, anywhere. She met her husband at BYU in the fall of 1956 and they
were married in the Salt Lake Temple, Nov. 1, 1957. They lived together for
40 years, 2 months and 18 days.She is survived by her husband, K La Vor
Hancey of Mesa, AZ; son, Michael K. Hancey, Denver, CO; daughter, Mindy Jo'L
Hamblin (Steve) of Eager, AZ; four loving grandchildren, Amanda, Kale, Rex
and Riann will miss her very much; brothers, Max (Renee), Ray (Micki), and
sisters, Maxine (Dick) Sadleir, Doris (Don) Drage. She was preceded in death
by her parents and brother, Gilbert H. Blake (Lorna). Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 23, 1998 at 11 a.m. at
Mountain View Memorial Estates Mortuary & Cemetery, 3115 E. 7800 So. The

Born January 30, 1909 in Murray, Utah to James and Louisa Wright Gilbert.
Married Louis Raddon December 2, 1929 in Farmington. He died April 1985.
Member of the LDS Church. Mom lived for her family. She created beautiful
handcrafted items for our heritage. She was happiest when she was tatting,
knitting, quilting, and crocheting. She had apple pie for all who came by.
She had a great capacity to love and share.Survived by her children: Gilbert
H. Blake and wife Lorna; Max L. Raddon and wife Renae; Maxine Sadleir and
husband Richard; Doris R. Drage and husband Donald; Dorthey Hancy and
Raymond F. Braddon (Micki); 11 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren;
one great-great-granddaughter; and two brothers, Max and Glenn Gilbert.

Sarah Jane Hill Gardner
American Fork - Mrs. Sarah Jane Hill Gardner, 80, an American Fork
resident many years, died of causes incident to age Monday at Provo.
She was born July 21, 1869, in Millville, Cache County, a daughter of
Joseph and Sarah Crosby Hill. She had resided in Salt Lake City a number of
years, after moving from American Fork some 10 years ago.
Mrs. Gardner had been active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints hile resideing in American Fork.
Her husband, James T. Gardner I, died October 1, 1947.
Surviving are five sons; Redd, T. William and Frank T. Gardner, Provo; R.
Glenn Gardner, Pasadena, Calfornia, and Richard A. Gardner, Los Angeles,
California; eight grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren, a great-grandchild;
a brother, Richard Hill - Salt Lake City, and four sisters, Mrs. Fannie
shipley, Los Angeles; Mrs. Susan Bingham, Smithfield, Cache county, and Mrs.
Margaret McCracken and Mrs. Charlotte Bowman, Ogden. A daughter, Mrs. Erwin
A. Christensen, died a number of years ago.

Civic Leader Dies At S.L. Residence

Funeral services will be conducted in American Fork for James T.
Gardner, 1205 - 7th East, former mayor of American Fork and
Utah county commissioner, who died at his home Wednesday at 3:15 p.m. of
causes incident to age, He was 84.
Born in American Fork May 29, 1863, a son of James and Jane
Threlfall Gardner, he was enployed approximately 30 years in the harness
department of the Chipman Mercantile Company in American Fork. He was bishop
of the American Fork First ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints 27 years.
Coming to Salt Lake City six years ago, he had been employed as a
gardener on the Salt Lake LDS Temple grounds until two weeks ago. He married
Ruth Greenwood and she died in 1892. On December 12, 1894, he married Sarah
Jane Hill in the Salt Lake City; Reed Gardner, Denver; R. Glenn Gardner,
Oxnard, CA, Frank T. Gardner, Provo and Richard H. Gardner, Los Angeles; 15
grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
James Threlfall Gardner Dies at Salt Lake Home
James T. Gardner, 84, former mayor of American Fork and bishop of
the old First ward, died at his home, 1205 Seventh East, Salt Lake City,
Wednesday at 3:15 p.m. of causes incident to age. He had been ill about two
weeks.
A native of American Fork, he resided here until six years ago when he
and his wife moved to Salt Lake City. He served the city as councilman for
three terms and for four terms as mayor and was a Utah county commissioner
for six years, during which time the county court house was erected.
He was bishop of the First ward from July 25, 1903 until July 22, 1927.
Before and after he served the ward in many minor capacities.
He was employed as a harness maker for Chipman Mercantile company for
over 30 years and since moving to Salt Lake City has been a gardner at the
Salt Lake temple grounds.
A son of James and Jane Threlfall Gardner, he was born May 2, 1863, in
American Fork. He was married first to Ruth Greenwood who died in 1892. He
maried Sarah Jane Hill in the Salt Lake Temple December 12, 1894.
Surviving are his widow, five sons, Thomas W. Gardner, Salt Lake City;
Reed Gardner, Denver, Colorado; R. Glen Gardner, Oxnard, California; Frank
T. Gardner, Provo, and Richard H. Gardner, Los Angeles; 15 grandchildren, 14
great grandchildren, and a great great grandchild.
Funeral services wil be conducted Monday at 1 p.m. in the Alpine Stake
Tabernacle with Bishop Rulon Nicholes of the Sixth ward in charge. Friends
may call at the Anderson Mortuary Sunday evening from 6 to 8 O'clock and a
the home of Bishop Nicholes MOnday morning from 10:30 unti ltime of service.
Ada Hickman Gardner
Provo - Mrs. Ada Hickman Gardner, 55, wife of Provo City Commissioner
Frank T. Gardner, died Mondat at 4 p.m. in a Salt Lake hospital of a blood
infection.
Mrs. Gardner was active in Provo civic and church activities and was a
member and past president of Provo American Legion Auzilliary. She was a
member of Acacia Club, Provo Women’s Council and the American Red Cross
Nurses Aid group here.
Active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Mrs. Gardner
had served as a Primary Assn., Young Ladies Mutual Improvement Assn. And
Relief Society teacher in Provo First and Sixth LDS wards.
She was born October 6, 1896, in Provo, a daughter of George H. and Emma
Homer Hickman. She attended Provo schools and for a number of years was
employed as a clerk with the W.R. Butler Store.
She was married to Mr. Gardner February 25, 1920, in Salt Lake Temple.
They resided here since their marriage.
Survivors include her husband, Provo; two sons, Frank H. and Richard M.
Gardner, both of Provo; three daughters Mrs. Chester L. (Marjorie) Fults,
Altamont, Tenn., Mrs. Mark (Ehelen) Goold, Greely, Colo., and Mrs. Dwaine (Adene)
Houts, Orem; eight grandchildren; two brothers, George H. and Albert H.

Provo - Funeral services for Mrs. Ada Hickman Gardner, 55, active Provo
church and civic worker who died Monday will be conducted Thursday at 1 p.m.

Mrs. Gardner died at a Salt Lake hospital of a blood infection.

Frank T. Gardner (1917) died on the 7th in Salt Lake of
natural causes. He was born in American Fork, Feb. 7, 1896. He was first to
enlist in the Army form Utah County during WWI, joining the medical Corps
July 4, 1917, and serving in the Army unti lhis discharge as a 1st
Lt. In 1918. He served as an employee of the Springville Sugar Co., and
later established the Gardner Insurance Agency. It later merged into Kolob
realty and Insurance Co. of Provo. He served as Provo City Commissioner from
1950 - 1954. He married Ina McKay Cameron on June 6, 1953. At the time of
his death, he was serving as bishop of the Provo 6th ward.
Survivors include his widow, two sons, and three daughters. Ina McKay, 1581
East Parkway, Salt Lake City, Utah.

American Fork - May 13. - Funeral services were held today in the Alpine
Stake Tabernacle for Mrs. Ruth Gardner Christensen, 23, wife of Ervin A.
Christensen of Salt Lake City and daughter of Bishop and Mrs. James T.
Gardner of this city, who died Monday following the birth of a son.
Mrs. Christensen is srvivied by her husband and parents and the following
brothers; Reed and Richard of this city, T. William of Salt Lake City, Frank
of Price and Glenn of Provo.
The speakers at the services were Bishop Heber C. Iverson of Salt Lake,
Thomas A. Greenwood and John H. Davis of this city and Garn Carter of Provo.
The floral offerints were profuse. Interment was in the local cemetery.

Fannie Hill Shipley
Mrs. Fannie Hill Shipley, 87, a former resident of American Fork and Salt
Lake City, died Wednesday at her home in Los Angeles of pneumonia, relatives
in Salt Lake City learned Thursday.
She was born January 15, 1865, in Smithfield, Cache County, a daughter of
Joseph and Sarah Crosby Hill. The family moved to American Fork when she was
a child and she resided there until 1920 when she moved to Salt Lake City.
Mrs. Shipley was an active member of the Relief Society of the Sixteenth
Ward, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She moved to Los Angeles
in 1938 and had resided there since.
She was married to Joseph Shipley who died in 1944 in Los Angeles.
Surviving are five sons and daughters; Ray Shipley, Mrs. Ema Boll, Warren
Shipley, and Mrs. Naonia Brown, all of Los Angeles and Clarence Shipley of
Idaho Falls, Idaho. Eighteen grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren and
three sisters; Mrs. Margaret McCracken, Ogden; Mrs Susan Bingham,
Smithfield, and Mrs. Elefie Bowman, Salt Lake City.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by the Anderson Mortuary in

Funeral services for 1st Lt. Beltron Ramon Hancey, 26, killed April 12,
1951, in action in Korea will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. at 260 East
South Temple.
He was husband of Mrs. Patricia Ralphs Hancey, who with their two children,
Kent, 5 and Martha Jane, 3, resides at 3184 Elton Drive.
A native of Smithfield, Cache County, Lt. Hancey was a graduate of Logan
High School and had served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. In 1949, he was
graduated from the University of Utah with a commission in the U.S. Army.
Serving in the 31st Field Artillery, 7th Division, he hd been in Korea since
September 1950. The Lieutenant had been awarded the bronze star with an oak
leaf cluster and the purple heart.
The family will meet friends at the place of funeral Friday prior to
services. Mrs. Hancey requests no flowers be sent.
Burial will be in Fort Douglas Cemetery with military rites conducted by a
detachment from the fort.
Harper William Hill
Logan - Harper William Hill, 67, assistant manager of Central Hotel in
Logan, died Friday in a Logan hospital.
Mr. Hill was born May 22, 1874, in Smithfield, son of Joseph and Betsy Ann
Harper Hill. He married Mae H. Heath June 1, 1899 in Logan. Fifteen years
ago he moved to Logan, where he and Mrs. Hill have owned and managed the
downtown Central Hotel.
Surviving are his widow; a daughter, and son, Mrs. S.A. Dunn and Luman S.
Hill of Pocatello; seven grandchildren and the following brothers and
sisters; Joseph Hill of Seattle, Richard Hill of Malad, Idaho; Mrs. James
Gardner and Mrs Joseph Shipley of Salt Lake, Mrs. Earl McCracken and Mrs.
Robert Browman of Ogden and Mrs. Parley Bingham of Smithfield.
Services will be conducted Sunda at 1 p.m. in Logan Fourth Ward by Bishop
Ira N. Hayward. Burial will be in Smithfield Cemetery.
Friends may call at Lindquist and Sons Chapel in Logan Saturday from 8 to 7
p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to time of services.
LeAnna Fisher. Hill
ST. ANTHONY - LeAnna F. Hill, 95, a longtime resident of St. Anthony, Idaho,
died April 19, 2000 in the Rexburg Nursing Center. She was born May 19,
1904, in Annis, Idaho, to Hyrum James Fisher and Artemissa Clark Fisher. She
married Dean Hill on Sept. 25, 1924. They were the first couple to be
married in the new Driggs Court House. Except for one year when they lived
in Jackson Hole, they have made their home in St. Anthony. He died on Jan.
11, 1988. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints, and taught in the Mutual Improvement Association. LeAnna loved to
fish, camp, crochet and have family gatherings. Survivors include a son,
Donald (Sharon) Hill of St. Anthony; daughters, Beverly (Leonard) Hunt of
West Point, Utah, Carma Taylor of Plearmo, Calif., and DeAnna (Doc) Weaver
of Salt Lake City; a brother, Oren Fisher of Weiser, Idaho; sisters, Maude
Rottweiler of Idaho Falls, and Afton Bybee and Donnetta Merrill, both of
Rigby; 12 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; and 13 great
great-grandchildren. Besides her husband she was preceded in death by a son,
two brothers, three sisters, and a great granddaughter. Funeral services
will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Bidwell Funeral Home in St. Anthony with
Bishop David Atkinson officiating. The family will meet with friends
Wednesday for one hour before services at the funeral home. Burial will be
in the Riverview Cemetery.
Margaret Shelton Hill McCracken
85, Salt Lake City, died May 26, 1972 of natural causes in a Salt Lake
nursing home.
Born Sep 13, 1887, Smithfield, Cache County, to Joseph and Betsy Ann Harper
Hill. Married Earl S. McCracken June 26, 1912, Logan LDS Temple. He died
1953.
Active member LDS Church; DUP.
Survivors daughters, Cleo McCraken, Indiana, PA; Margaret M. Nelson, Salt
Lake City; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
Funeral Tuesday, 1 p.m., 260 East South Temple, where friends call Monday
7-8 p.m., Tuesday hour prior to services. Burial in Whittier, Ca.
Richard Nephi Hill
79, 1060 Lake Street, former superintendent of schools at Malad, Idaho, died
Thursday at 4:20 ;.m. at his residence after a lingering illness. He was
born in Smithfield, Cache County, Utah, 16 Aug 1872, a son of Joseph and
Betsy Harper Hill.
Mr. Hill was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and
had served a mission to Holland for the church.
He was a resident of Malad for many years. He taught school and later was
superintendent of schools there. He retired and moved to Salt Lake City in
1943.
He married Martha Eleanor Palmer and she died in 1932. He married Ella Rose
Hayward 30 Jul 1933.
Surviving are his widow; a daughter, Mrs Alice DePaolo, Lexington, Mass; a
stepson, Albert H. Hayward, San Francisco; four sisters, Mrs. Joseph
Shipley, Los Angeles; Mrs Eleise Bowman, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Susie Ann
Bigham, Smithfield, and Mrs Margaret McCracken, Ogden; two grandchildren and
two great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services For R.N. Hill Held Monday Afternoon
Funeral Services for Richard N. Hill, 79, who died Thursdat at Salt Lake,
City were held MOnday afternoon at the Second Ward chapel.
Bishop A.G. Willie presided; Prof. S.M. Powell played the prelude and
postlude, and Mrs. Pauline Atkinson accompanied the musical numbers; D. M.
Williams gave the invocation; Vern Smith, benediction; Hugh Griffiths
dedicated the grave. W.W. Thomas and Thos. W. Richards were the speakers; J.
Peter Jensen gave the obituary; Stillman Harris sang a solo; June and Gwen
Ward a duet, and Fern Willie played a violin solo.
Mr. Hill was born in Smithfield, Cache County, Aug. 16, 1872, a son of
Joseph and Betsy Harper Hill. He received his early education in the schools
of that place and later attended the Brigham Young College at Logan where he
graduated in 1896. He came to Oneida county the following year to teach
school. He served as county superintendent of Oneida county for two terms
from 1905 to 1909. At the end of his term as county superintendent he
entered the employment of Studebaker Bros. Implement Co. for a time as
traveling salesman and then became manager of the Malad branch of that
company. He was transferred from Malad to Logan, Utah and later to Boise.
Returning to Malad from Boise he was manager of the Oneida Farmers Union. He
was enployed for several years by the Jones Milling Co. and Jones Auto Co.
Later, he engaged in the real estate and insurance business in Malad. He
also had farming interests in Oneida county. He retired and moved to Salt
Lake City in 1943.
He married Martha Eleanor Palmer Sep 20, 1899. She died Oct 31, 1932. He
married Ella Rose Hayward July 30, 1933.
He was a member of the L.D.S. church and served as a missionary to Europe.
Surviving are his widow; a daughter, Mrs Alice DePaolo, Lexington, Mass; a
stepson, Albert H. Hayward, San Francisco; four sisters, Mrs. Joseph
Shipley, Los Angeles; Mrs Eleise Bowman, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Susie Ann

two great-grandchildren.
